Our Team

Larry Kuehn

Founder & CEO

Larry Kuehn began his career at John Deere in 1977 and completed a 4 year apprenticeship as a Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machinist. In 1983, he won a position at Hughes Helicopter in the Quality Control (QC) department and moved to Northrop in 1985. He learned surface plate inspection and quickly began to use and program coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). In 1986 he began working for Southern California Edison in the electrical power generation industry. With a progressive outlook, Larry learned to use several computer aided design (CAD) programs, including CATIA. In order to streamline reporting and shore up weak areas with the CMM software he was using, he ventured out to recruit engineers and technicians, developing aftermarket software to support CATIA and CMM inspection software. Larry eventually marketed it to the aerospace and other industries. He won the trust of several key aerospace customers and launched LK Consulting part-time in 2008.

After 38 years of performing inspection services and selling inspection hardware and software for other companies, Larry decided it was the right time to make LK Consulting Inc. inspection services a full-time business in 2022.

Peter Tavis

Power Generation Metrology Specialist

Pete’s Navy machinist experience jumpstarted his career with South California Edison which eventually led to work on power generation equipment including nuclear power plants and steam turbines around the world. He brings with him a wealth of experience in quality control, and is perfectly at home with all the popular metrology equipment and his experience with Creaform Scanning, VX Elements and Polyworks software programs makes our deliverables clear and fast for clients.

Montana Tavis

Quality Control Technician

Montana Tavis is adept at first article inspection to CAD models and blueprints, using the FaroArm and Verisurf software. He is capable with the Creaform HandyScan using VX Elements and reporting in Polyworks, extracting profile points and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). He also uses Discus software to balloon prints and export AS9102 Form 3 reports for aerospace clients. Montana excels at streamlining tedious, repetitive tasks by writing macros, using creative excel functions and applying software utilities.

James McCormick

Metrologist

James is a talented machine tool technologist and machinist with experience in quality assurance at Alatus Aerosystems and is a certified quality management system lead auditor with AQS. His metrology knowledge and experience is an enormous asset to the team.

Jazmin Young

Metrologist

Jazmin is a metrology professional with a history of excelling in the aerospace manufacturing industry with a Bachelors Degree from UCLA. She has extensive experience with first article inspections, AS9102 creation, Faro Portable Arm inspection, CMM programming inspection, 3D scanning for quality control, 3D scanning for reverse engineering and CAD modeling, Laser Tracker inspection, and CATIA V5 modeling and design work. She is skilled in programs like Verisurf, Polyworks, CMM Manager, VX Elements, Geomagic Design X, Discus, and CATIA V5.

Alex has experience in CNC programming and machining, mastercam programming, aerospace engineering, CMM inspection and more. His expertise in tool design and manufacturing will prove invaluable on projects.
